FEE Teacher Award

The 2023/2024 application window has now closed. Thanks to all the teachers that have applied!

Awarded teachers will be announced on June 5 at 3pm CET!

By instituting an award for teachers, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) aims to recognize the efforts of outstanding teachers from the global network who promote and integrate Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in their schools and communities.

Through the award, we aim to highlight professional excellence, celebrate achievements, and spread inspirational stories amongst stakeholders.

The award is not a competition awarded to a select few. It is the recognition of teachers’ efforts and a celebration of their work and the impact they have had every day over the last 30 years.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:

  • The teacher has been involved in any of FEE’s three educational programmes for at least 5 years (Eco-School/FEE EcoCampus/LEAF/ YRE).

  • The institution in which the teacher works has received either a Green Flag Award, LEAF Award or has produced a YRE competition finalist/winner at the national level.

THE EVALUATION PROCESS

Step 1:

Download the criterion rubric and make a self-assessment according to each criterion. If the total score of 80 or more, please go to step 2. If not, please identify the areas that need to be strengthened and come back next year to do the self-assessment again.

Step 2:

Prepare the application that includes an application dossier and a video of up to 3 minutes (please add English subtitles) highlighting the key educational and environmental impacts.

The Application Dossier:

The following documents must all be put into one single PDF in the following order:

  1. Fully answered questionnaire

  2. Self-assessment using the criterion rubric with a score.

  3. A support letter from school stakeholders (it can be a parent, staff member, colleague, or student). The letter must explain why and how they think the teacher made a difference in the school (max 400 words in English).

  4. One exemplary lesson plan (translated into English) that the teacher has used in the past or is using.

  5. 3 photographs that help show the activities and projects in the school.

The PDF document MUST be named: A(Year)_Country_FirstName_Surname

The Video:

The video must be a 3-minute video that presents the exemplary work carried out by the teacher, illustrating what makes them a good candidate for the award.
