Schools implementation of the campaign

The Great Plant Hunt National Operators' Workshop 2017

The Great Plant Hunt Toyota Workshop held at the Eco-Schools NOM 2017 was a Great success.

All 14 countries attended, as did Toyota Motor Europe Environmental Affairs and Corporate Citizenship General Manager, Steve Hope.  LEAF Director, Barry McGonigal welcomed and introduced everyone.  Steve Hope from Toyota gave a really interesting presentation about Toyota and the environmental work they are doing globally and in Europe.

The Great Plant Hunt is being run across Europe with tremendous success.  It deals with educating students about biodiversity using their own school grounds as the focal point of their learning experience.  The number of schools participating in The Great Plant Hunt has more than doubled in the past three years.  Many Toyota representatives are also getting involved on a national level and strengthening the efforts of the National Operators in each country.

Cathy Baxter from An Taisce showed how they were running the project in Ireland using relevant slides.  All were afterwards agreed that the Speed Dating session was extremely useful and Great fun.  Barry McGonigal also presented a Handbook of Social Media prepared specially for the National Operators running the Great Plant Hunt.  Everybody is already looking forward to next year’s workshop.
