What is Eco-Schools?

Launched in 1994, Eco-Schools is the largest sustainability education movement in the world.

The programme provides a structured Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) framework that involves learners, schools and communities in whole-school learning and student-led change.

Greening Education Partnership (GEP)

The Greening Education Partnership (GEP) is a global initiative that takes a whole-of-system approach to support countries in tackling the climate crisis by harnessing the critical role of education.

Eco-Schools is one of the most established and widely implemented frameworks supporting GEP, already delivering long-term sustainability learning, whole-school engagement and student-led change in schools across the world.

Aligned to UNESCO’s Green School Quality Standard, the Eco-Schools programme offers an adaptable and scalable educational approach to support national education systems realise their ambitions for Greening Education.
