Join the Eco-Schools network

Every school and organisation can play a role in creating a more sustainable future through education.

Whether you're a school ready to begin your Eco-Schools journey or an organisation interested in bringing the programme to your country, there are different ways to get involved. Explore the pathways below to find the option that's right for you and become part of the global Eco-Schools network.

 

If you are a school

1) Check for a National Office 

First, see if Eco-Schools is run by a National Operator in your country:

If your country is listed, contact the National Office directly. They will guide you through registration, support and the process for working towards the Green Flag. 

 

2) No National Office in your Country? 

Schools can apply directly through the FEE Head Office during the annual registration period (December–January):

Please note: this pathway involves a participation fee.

 

3) If the fee is a barrier 

You can still begin your Eco-Schools journey independently by: 

While this route does not lead to a Green Flag award, your actions remain valuable and contribute to the global ambition of greening schools globally.  


If You Are an organisation wanting to run Eco-Schools 

1) Check for an Existing National Operator 

First, see if Eco-Schools is run by a National Operator in your country:

If one exists, connect with them to collaborate and strengthen national impact. 

 

2) No National Operator in Your Country? 

Consider becoming a FEE Member and establishing Eco-Schools nationally:

FEE Membership provides access to the full framework, global network, resources and the ability to award Green Flags. Please note: this pathway involves a membership fee.

 

3) Not Ready for Membership Yet? 

If you are a newly established organisation and membership is not yet feasible: 

When ready, you can apply for official membership to access full services and formally contribute to the global goal of greening 50% of schools by 2030.
